International image of Russia
Actual ity 2007
The considerable part of sharp criticism of Ru ssia
is said by opposition, however the image of the country doesn’t look such as ill-wishers want to represent it
today.
The reputation of present Russia was earned in a considerable degree in soviet times, the official representative of MFA of the RF declared speaking about today' s image of Ru ssia. So, according to poll made by the American research company Global Market Insight, today Russia, as well as half a century ago, is respected for sport and ballet, for “cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin” and “victory in the Second World War”, but political and economic successes of the last years practically were not reflected on the Russian image.
“In some sense now we waste this brend”, the representative also marked that Moscow is concerned by toughen ing of anti-Russian rhetoric
in a number of western prints.
Answering the question, whom
the discredit of Russia is advantageous to,
the official representative of MFA noticed that in the conditions of the intensified scramble for resources far not the whole world wants to deal with independent, dynamically developing Russia.
The considerable part of sharp criticism of Russia is said by opposition which in its political aims does not loathe to cross elementary ethics norms at times.
However, Russia always had more friends than enemies, and the illustration to this is the choice of Sochi for the Olympic Games 2014.
“It is the important evidence of the fact that the image of Russia today looks not such as ill-w
ishers want to represent it. According to h is words, abroad along with the unawareness there
is the sincere desire to understand what
is going on in the country.
No one denies that there are many problems… but there are tendencies to the decision of many of them. There are large financial inflowing in the national programs: increases of birth-rate, development of nana-technology, building of accommodation, health protection and a lot of others.
Certainly, if to judge objectively part of these money is being stolen by enormous state machinery of officials, remained as the inheritance from USSR.
But also the situation gets better, as the crooked are more often put into prison.
