Russian internet postal service Mail.ru goes up in price

Actuality November, 29, 2007

Naspers Limited Company from Republic of South Africa (RSA) declared about acquisition of 2,6% stocks of Mail.ru web portal for $26 mln. Thus, the total Mail.ru price was estimated at $1 bln, and Naspers stake in this company has increased by 33%.

According to the report of Naspers Limited, for the first half of 2007 the monthly audience of Internet web portal has increased from 29,7 mln to 35,3 mln people, and number of postal service users – from 25,6 mln to 30,7 mln.

Let’s remind that at the end of January, 2007 Naspers Limited announced about acquisition of 30% stocks of Port.ru Company, owning Mail.ru.

According to Mark Sorura, the investments director of Naspers, it is quite possible that the company will increase the stake in Mail.ru in future.

Naspers Limited owns assets in Europe, Asia and North America, though basic sources of profits are exactly in RSA. Online web portal News24 in RSA, one of the largest informative giants, belongs exactly to Naspers Limited.

In the analysts’ opinion, Naspers Limited Company does not overpay for Mail.ru: taking into account the growing market situation, the estimation at $1 bln is fully justified.
