Russia’s ERP market grows

According to data of the analytical company IDC, in 2007 the volume of Russia’s market of integrated system for an enterprise management (Enterprise Resource Planning; ERP) grew by 58,7% to $579 million. This index is almost as twice higher as the average growth rate of Russia’s IT market.

Largest Russian banks demonstrated slowdown of assets growth

In June five largest Russian banks demonstrated the biggest slowdown of assets growth since early year. Gazprombank that decreased volume of facilities placement at the interbank lending market, and Bank of Moscow that reduced corporate credit portfolio provided this fall. At the same time, assets of mid-seized banks that had received access to relatively inexpensive foreign loans in 2Q demonstrated marked growth.

Slowdown in the growth rates of Russia’s industrial production

According to Rosstat data for June (Federal State Statistics Service), industrial production index for the first 6 months of 2008 totaled 105,8% as compared to the analogical period last year – 100,9. In July was expected production rates’ reduction; however, assessment of June to corresponding month last year was overall surprising. Analysts consent that the reason of such low growth assessment of industrial production in June is practical peculiarities of economic measuring and its adjustments used by Rosstat.

Russia’s authorities adjust inflation forecast

The Central Bank (Bank of Russia) first deputy chairman Gennady Melikyan acknowledged it would be impossible to meet even 10,5% inflation this year, and named a more realistic point – 12% (inflation was 11,9% in 2007).

Russia’s food import statistics in January-April 2008

In January-April 2008 Russia has increased import of meat (except for poultry meat) by 12,5% (in natural terms) as compared to the analogical period last year, and poultry meat import has increased by 10,8%.

Rosstat published data about Russia’s industrial production for January-April, 2008

Rosstat data (Federal State Statistics Service) about an industrial production for January-April, 2008 showed more optimistic results as economists have been expecting. Industrial production volume for four months upped by 6,9%, and in April by 9,2% due to engineering and construction mainly. Oil extraction showed deceleration of decline rates in April. Some economists say they are ready to increase the forecast of the industry growth rates for 2008

Mail.ru to outstrip Yandex by audience in Russia’s Ru. Internet

TNS Gallup Media research company has presented the first results of the Internet-audience calculation throughout Russia. The data corrects the idea of the largest online portals popularity: in March Mail.ru became the Ru.net leader by the daily audience volume – 5,85 million people – outstripping Yandex (5,56 million) by 290 000 people. These portals have surpassed Rambler by this index twice, though the advertisers have perceived it as comparable with them by an audience until now.

Russian online communities to become more popular than blogs

The number of active bloggers has reduced for the last half-year, and the growth rates of blog-area have fallen by half as said in the Yandex company report. One of the reasons of the interest decline to blogs is popularity growth of online communities, such as Odnoklassniki.ru. The interest decline does not affect yet the blog-services advertising revenue; according to 2008 results they total $34-36 million

Russian Rosstat confirmed GDP record growth in 4Q of 2007

According to the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) data, GDP growth totaled 9,5% in 4Q of 2007, and in 2007 on the whole – 8,1%. Analysts doubt the Rosstat takes into account the price rise properly, supposing that therefore the Russian indices of economy growth can be overestimated. However, they are sure that growth continues as the food inflation can unexpectedly become the new source of agriculture growth.

Unemployment in Russia

The number of the unemployed in the Russian Federation was 5 mln people at the end of February. It is higher than in January (4,3 mln) as reported Rosstat (the Federal State Statistics Service).
